Would you like to speed up production times and increase the quality of your weld products, all while decreasing breaks in production and wasted materials?  If that’s you, it might be time to consider automating your welding systems.

As an industry, Robotic Welding already commands more than 20% of industrial robot applications.

Arguably, the two most obvious advantages of automated welding are precision and productivity. Robotic welding improves weld repeatability. Once they are installed and programmed correctly, robots will give precisely the same welds every time on work pieces of the same dimensions and specifications.

Automating the torch motions decreases the potential for error, which in turn means decreased scrap and rework.

With robotic welding you can also achieve increased work output. Not only does a robot work faster, but the fact that a fully equipped and optimized robot cell can run for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without breaks makes it more efficient than a manual weld cell.

If you are looking to automate, Worldwide’s highly technical sales and engineering staff will be there with you all the way through the process. We can help you determine the automation feasibility of your application, figure out your return on a robotic automation investment, and develop the right implementation plan for your needs.

We will design the cell and build the robots to order, install them on-site for you, train and educate your operators, and work with you to develop a service plan for your new system.

Most production welding processes can be used in automated applications. The most popular, used in perhaps 80 percent of applications, is the solid wire GMAW process. This process is best for most high production situations because no post-weld cleanup is required.

Robot-Phobia - Advantages Of Automated Welding Systems

Robot-Phobia.  No, this isn’t a new disease, nor will it require a trip to a therapist.  It’s an exciting technology that can increase your production, quality and profits.

Yet over the last few years I have noticed many people in the manufacturing and/or fabricating business suffer from robot-phobia when it comes to automating their welding processes through robotic welding systems.

New technology can seem daunting at first.  But, what if I told you that there are only three basic moves for a robotic arm?  It’s true.  You have a P move, which is a point move L, which is a linear interpolated move and C which is a circular move.

With that said, the only other basic thing that would be required is a weld start and weld end command.  It is very easy to set up weld schedule to store welding parameters which can be used in many different programs.

Many folks feel that if they don’t have thousands of parts to run, then a robotic welding system is not for them.  That’s not necessarily the case.  We have customers that will program a robot for a single part run of fifty pieces, and some others write a program for small part runs, sometimes as little at ten per month.  Once the program is stored it can be recalled at any time.

Over the last ten years I have had the pleasure of working with many great technicians who have expressed great apprehension when they were first introduced to the concept of robotic welding.  After a few hours of training, their apprehension usually turns to curiosity and confidence.

One thing that you should know if you’re thinking of automating your welding processes is that you must still know how to weld the parts manually before you can program a robot to do the weld for you.

So what are you waiting for?   Give Worldwide Welding and Brazing Solutions a call today at 1-855-493-5337 and let us work with you to set up a free robotic analysis. Turn that apprehension into curiosity, confidence, and bottom line growth!
